This series of paintings reflects my ongoing interest in the exploration of the self as revealed through the creative process, using the language of realism and the body as a metaphor. The current work uses elements of the physical self to create a dialog between the conscious and unconscious minds, and embody that dialog in visual form. Conscious decisions are made about what is hidden and what is revealed, but the results expose the subconscious tension between disclosure and concealment, secrets and confessions, and strength versus vulnerability.
